Working with Gaudin Law Group as an expectant mom was an amazing experience. I went through tremendous amounts of emotions and they never made me feel like I was difficult.
Jess was there for me the entire time, even in the room during my C-Section and I’m thankful to still call her a friend. I don’t regret anything and I’m happy I chose them to help me.

I’m considering placing my child for adoption, what should I do now?
First, please know that you are strong, selfless and loving for considering building an adoption plan for your baby. Next, please call us at 225.412.8048. We are birth mom advocates, here to talk to you about all of your options.
Do I get to choose the family to place my baby with?
Yes!!! We have a waiting list of beautiful families that would love to meet you, or if you already have a family in mind we can work with them also!
Can I receive help with medical and living expenses while I’m pregnant?
Absolutely – Financial help is allowed under Louisiana law; it is, however, regulated. The law allows for assistance to pay for things like pregnancy related expenses, living expenses while you’re pregnant, medical needs and counseling. The amount and which expenses will vary from one situation to another. We will work with you to create a budget that meets your needs and satisfies any legal requirements.
Do I get to name my baby?
Yes!! You can absolutely choose your baby’s name, and we encourage you to do so, that way you will always have a special way to cherish your child! We will also make sure you are given a copy of your child’s initial birth certificate with both of your names on it!
How much time do I get to spend with my baby in the hospital?
As much as you want to and are comfortable with! It is up to you to decide who you want in the room with you during delivery and during your hospital stay. You can decide if the adoptive parents you have chosen can be at the hospital, or if you would prefer that time for yourself.
Will I get to be a part of my child’s life after I place him/her for adoption?
The team at Gaudin Law Group encourages open adoption relationships and believes that they truly are the best for all members of the triad! Our team will work with everyone to help outline and determine what that relationship will look like.
Is there any type of agreement in writing about our open adoption?
Great question. An important one! First, we will put the terms of future contact in writing and ask everyone to sign an agreement called a Continuing Contact Agreement. Everyone will receive a copy and we will remind the adoptive parents about the terms of the agreement and their obligations. We will help organize those details and set up lines of communication that work best for everyone, that are healthy and respectful to all members of the triad!
How much will this cost me?
Nothing!! All of your counseling, Gaudin Law Group’s services, and attorney fees are provided at no cost to you!
Should I tell the baby’s father about the adoption plan?
Any potential father should be informed that he may be the child’s father. Whether you are the person to tell him or not is debatable. If telling him does not create a risk of harm, then yes – we encourage you to tell him. If you are afraid, then there are other ways we can notify him and protect you at the same time.
Will I have my own attorney?
Yes! It is a legal requirement. In every adoption, there must be at least two attorneys– at least one for the adoptive parents and one for the birth parents. Your attorney will meet with talk and meet with you before you sign any documents and if at any point during the adoption process, your own attorney will be available to you for any questions, support and guidance.
